TOURISM OUTLOOK CONFERENCES
The Tourism Outlook Conference series was founded in 2005 by Dr. Nor'ain Othman of the School of Hotel and Tourism Management, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Selangor, Malaysia. The first few conferences were held close to the UiTM campus, in the Kuala Lumpur area.
The Coastal, Island and Tropical Tourism Conference was founded in 2011 by Dr. Alan A. Lew of the Department of Geography, Planning & Recreation at Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, Arizona, USA. The first conference was held on Martinique, FWI, in cooperation with the Dr. Olivier Dehoorne of the Université des Antilles et de la Guyane.
These two conferences were brought together to create the Tropical Tourism Outlook Conference series. These conference have been sponsored by the Tourism Commission of the International Geographical Union, and include:
- The 11th Tourism Outlook Conference: Heritage Tourism Beyond Borders and Civilizations, Eskishir, Turkeym 3-5 October 2018
- The 10th Tourism Outlook Conference: Empowering Sustainable Tourism, Organizational Management and Our Environment, Belihuloya, Sri Lanka, 19-21 October 2017
- Tourism Outlook Conference, in cooperation with the IGU Tourism Commission Pre-Congress, 17-20 August 2016, Nanjing, China
- Tropical Tourism Outlook Conference: Balancing Development and Sustainability in Tourism Destinations, 29-31 July 2015, Lombok, Indonesia - Conference Proceedings
