Fleur Fallon completed her doctoral thesis: Tourism interrupted: the challenge of sustainability for Lombok island 1987-2001 at the University of New England, Armidale, New South Wales, Australia in 2002. She has made several repeat visits to Indonesia, and written about China leisure tourism to Indonesia. She has taught in several universities in China since 2000. Since 2012, she has been based in the School of Tourism Management, Sun Yat-sen University, Zhuhai campus, Guangdong province, China. Her teaching and research interests include management, organisational behaviour, academic writing and presentation skills, learning and teaching, tourism and events management.

Enhancing Intelligent Tourist Behaviour in the Tropics

Foundation Professor of Tourism, James Cook University, Townsville, Queensland, Australia
Philip Pearce has taught in Australian Universities for over 35 years. He is the first Professor of Tourism in Australia and is based at James Cook University. He earned a Doctorate from the University of Oxford studying tourists in Europe and has held a Fulbright scholarship at Harvard University. He has 250 publications and 15 books on tourism. He is a frequent keynote speaker at tourism conferences particularly in Asia. His special interest areas are tourist behaviour, notably tourist motivation and experience, tourism and communities and tourism education and research. He has taught multiple international specialist tourism courses in Bangkok, Thailand; Sardinia and Milan Italy; Innsbruck, Austria and in Singapore. He has recent interest and publications in the areas of Chinese outbound tourism. He supervises a large number of current PhD students and has been the principal supervisor for successful graduates from 12 countries.

David is the leader of Lincoln University's tourism programme and a founding staff member of the Social Science, Parks, Recreation and Tourism Group. He is University Director of Research Strategy and Development, and Professor of Tourism. He has recently completed two nationally funded programmes examining financial, economic, and sustainable dimensions of tourism yield, and their spatial effects. Prior to that, he led the investigation into a national government funded study into tourism planning, tourist flows and destination management. Most recently he has been engaged as a member of the writing team for the New Zealand National Tourism Framework and annual state of sector reports. From 2008 – 2010 he was Director of Research for the Australian Federal Government’s ‘Sustainable Tourism CRC’ before returning to Lincoln University .

Lew is a Professor in the Department of Geography, Planning, and Recreation at Northern Arizona University where he teaches courses in geography, urban planning and tourism. He is the founding editor-in-chief of the Tourism Geographies journal and has published several books on geography and tourism, including Tourism Geography, 3rd edition, and is a Fellow of the International Academy for the Study of Tourism. His interests and writings focus on tourism across East and Southeast Asia. |
Workshop on Knowledge Based Tourism
Dr. Franck Lavigne Professor, Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, and Director of Laboratoire de Géographie Physique Using the historical mount Samalas and Geopark Rinjani (Lombok), this workshop will discuss how research-based knowledge can be interpreted for the benefit of tourism. TECHNICAL FIELD TRIPS
This are educational field trips. Participants are expected to make documentation of what they have observed and learned from the trip, and to present their comments at the closing session. There will be two full day Technical Excursions that participants can select from.
Both Field Trips will first visit Banyumulek Village, a GIZ tourism project, and they will end with dinner at the Madani Forest Reserve.
